This is not surprising but there are fake Ipods everywhere! In various underground factories from China to Thailand and who knows where else counterfeit Ipods, fake Gucci purses and fake Playstations are being manufactured and shipped globally, many times to unsuspecting clients.Many mega corporations create big hits items that are cheap to manufacture, then through media hype people get excited to the point that they have to have one.These mega corporations area able to sell these items because of media hype at inflated prices. Along comes the underground Asian factory, ready to steal some of that profit margin by making products that look close and sometimes exactly like the original. These knock offs of hit items are being mass produced and quietly shipped all over the world. Articles have been written and news documentaries have covered the problems of piracy worldwide.
Of course companies like Apple, Sony and Gucci and many others are
angry, however since these factories are very secretive and many Asian governments don’t care, this underground manufacturing continues year after year. The picture you see here is one of their products. This fake “Ipod” was photographed in a store in Thailand.Normally you can tell a fake just by looking but this is not always the case. As we see this Ipod it is exactly like the real thing even the writing on the back is showing to be exactly like the real thing. However most of the fake items aren’t of the same design and quality as the originals, this is one of the ways that these Asian underground factories aren’t bothered by their host governments. They are creating items that are a little different, these they refer to as reproductions. These small changes are enough to reduce some of the heat from law enforcement. But what does this mean to you the consumer? Some people don’t mind buying an imitation, but these are not made of the same high quality components and this is a concern to many people. How can you the consumer tell the difference between the real and the fake Ipod?There is a difference in the Firmware, the screen that you will see when the Ipod starts up will be different, the on Youtube you can see videos of a real Ipod screen start up or look at a friends Ipod. There are some fake Ipods with authentic looking firmware but they are very rare.There should be a docking port at the bottom of the real Ipod, this is used for Ipod compatible speakers and headphones. This connection is hard to fake as it is
proprietary to the Apple corporation.The real Ipod should come in a clear looking Apple Factory Box, this will the apple logo on it. If you see any Chinese writing its not a real Ipod.If the price of the Ipod is very low be wary!With this information you will be better off to spot the fake Ipod, If you are going to buy online you should be careful.
